Frequently Asked Questions

How much does acupuncture treatment cost?

The regular fee is $75 for each acupuncture session.  Sliding scale payment is possible in case of financial need.

How many sessions will I need?

I recommend you start with four sessions to see how you are responding to acupuncture, as the treatments are cumulative in nature.  After that, we can assess how you would like to continue.  Treatment is often spaced out to bi-weekly, monthly, or seasonal appointments.  Acupuncture is best used to maintain well-being, not only for acute situations.  Preventative medicine is the best medicine!

What does it feel like?  Does it hurt?

Sensation is often felt as a slight tingling, a dull ache, a momentary movement of energy, or sometimes nothing at all.  Clients often find that the acupuncture points stimulate a feeling of deeper relaxation, which continues throughout the treatment.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

Some insurance companies do cover acupuncture, though it is still not very common.  Call your insurance company to see if they cover acupuncture.  I am happy to provide you with the proper treatment codes to submit to your company if they do cover.

Is it safe to have acupuncture if I am taking medication?

Yes.  Acupuncture actually helps your body to function optimally and is not contraindicated when you are taking medication.  It is helpful for me to know what you are taking and for what medical conditions.
